樹下，我們談起各自的理想

你說你要為山立傳，為水寫史

under the tree we talk about our respective ideals

you say you’ll write a biography for hills and a history for rills

我呢，只想拍一套雲的寫真集

畫一幅窗口的風景畫

（間以一兩聲鳥鳴）

以及一禎家中小女的素描

I only want to make an album for clouds

and paint a landscape framed in the window

(occasionally with one or two twitters)

as well as a sketch of my own little daughter

當然，她一定要站在院子里的木瓜樹下

surely, she must stand under the pawpaw tree in the yard
